Flu Vaccines

Influenza vaccines are available every year at my office beginning in the fall and throughout the winter season. The flu vaccine is adjusted each year based on expectations for the dominant flu strains at risk during the winter season. Two options exist depending on your child’s age and medical history: flu shot or flumist (nasal drops). A brief questionnaire is completed in the office to help determine which flu vaccine is best for your child.

The CDC recommends that everyone receive a flu vaccine annually from age 6months old and up with few exceptions. Certain populations are at higher risk of complications from the flu: infants/toddlers, the elderly, pregnant women, and patients with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, sickle cell disease, immune deficiencies, etc.).

My office provides flu vaccine to children in the practice as well as family members (parents, grandparents, etc.) based on available supply.
